Department of Vocational Pedagogy

In addition to technical education trainees at the TTC will enrol in Vocational Pedagogy courses during their Bachelor’s Program. These courses are organized and designed by the Department of Vocational Pedagogy. The department’s staff consists of experts who have gained considerable experience in German universities and educational institutions and are among leading experts in the field of Vocational Pedagogy.

During the entire programme each trainee has to attend 10 units of Vocational Pedagogy. In addition, 4 units in Applied Vocational Pedagogy will deal with transferring knowledge in real training situations.

The units in Vocational Pedagogy provide the trainee with modern training and teaching methods. Exposing trainees to training situations as early as possible is an essential part of the TTC philosophy, therefore, trainees are regularly and as early as possible exposed to training. In order to assess their performance and support the trainees in improving their skills, feedback courses are held by the staff of the Department of Vocational Pedagogy. Building on a solid foundation of pedagogical knowledge, the TTC curriculum is designed to combine the theoretical with the practical aspects of a trainer’s education, thus helping the trainees to form their own identity as future professional educators.

The trainees will be regularly exposed to Vocational Pedagogy units from the first through the sixth semester. These units do not contribute to the subject-specific training of the trainees but rather provide them with the knowledge necessary to become successful vocational trainers. Additionally, units of Applied Vocational Pedagogy will provide the trainees with knowledge about the practical aspects of a job as an educator such as planning and preparing classroom lessons. During field visits to vocational training institutions and several internships with private companies and technical schools within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia trainees gain first practical experiences as future vocational educators. Later feedback sessions with the TTC staff will help the trainees to analyze their methods and support them in improving their teaching skills.

The modules of the Vocational Pedagogy underline the Technical Trainers College’s commitment to offer an education complying with international standards. The trainees will be exposed to questions of vocational pedagogy and didactics, to various training methods in vocational training, to lesson and training preparation, as well as a number of different training techniques.
